Vote Smart Opens National “Facts Matter” Research Center

April 6, 2017 by pegjohnston

Des Moines, April 6, 2017 -- Seventeen universities competed and Drake University, located in the center of the nation and in a state that is ground zero every Presidential Election, was selected by Vote Smart for its new Facts Matter Research Center.

The center is being designed to grow an unparalleled database of public records on over 100,000 past, present and future politicians, and to forge new interactive systems for handheld devices that defend each citizen’s access to the facts on any issue and on any politician of interest.

Vote Smart is hosting an opening celebration on April 10th from 5 pm - 7 pm in their new Des Moines office to commemorate a new partnership with Drake, an outstanding civics learning institution that is providing the offices needed to house 50 of its interns each semester to defend every citizen’s right to know.

Free Access to Vote Smart now until election day

October 18, 2016 by imc-editor

Free unimpeded access to all Vote Smart data now through Election Day.
 Vote Smart  votesmart.org

Vote Smart is a bipartisan database of every federal candidate for office--every position, every speech, every vote. Not only that it has several tools to help you make the best choice that matches up with your concerns. For instance, if the environment or reproductive rights are important to you, choose that filter and see who is worth your vote.

For a short time, Vote Smart had to charge to use the database which was created by hundreds of hours of volunteer time.
Pro Access, the system that limited access to those using Vote Smart data for professional purposes is being suspended. The over 20,000 professional users who had their access limited will no longer be impeded from using this incredible source of facts on thousands of candidates.

Thanks to Vote Smart member gifts, the access codes assigned to almost 20,000 users will no longer be needed.

Vote Smart everyone!

Vote Smart New Tool for Democracy

October 1, 2015 by imc-editor

We have all had the thought that if people voted on the issues that are important to them, instead of gotcha games and bought elections, our democracy would be a lot stronger. Well, that reality is a little closer with Vote Smart a non partisan resources listing all federal and state candidates with their complete records in an easy to access database. It was completed by thousands of volunteers who combed records for every vote, position, speech, article, etc of every candidate. Amazing! Check it out:

Ignore the self-serving nonsense of this year's Presidential candidates with our awesome new interactive tool allowing citizens to find their perfect presidential match.

Simply state your position on an issue and watch to see which candidates agree with you. If you question the accuracy of their positions, just click on the candidates' yard signs and get into their factual record.

VoteEasy enables voters to do side-by-side comparisons of current presidential candidates on 13 national issues -- and then compare the politicians' stances with their own.

"Hundreds of students from across the nation have created this exciting tool that cuts to the facts, the truth, the reality of what these people are likely to do for you or to you if elected president" said Jamieson Bates, Vote Smart's National Director.
                                             -----------------------------------------
Vote Smart (formerly known as Project Vote Smart), founded by Presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford, is powered by more than 8,000 students and volunteers of both major parties, third parties and independents. It is the nation's premier non-partisan, citizen-driven organization devoted to voter education.

Vote Smart Could Transform Voting Decisions

September 25, 2014 by pegjohnston

Citizens have got to know about Project Vote Smart, a non-partisan group of students and volunteers from all over the country who have put together a massive factual database on politicians.

Vote Smart gathers the voting records, biographies, public statements (issue or even key word searchable), issue positions, who gives candidates money, even the ratings done by over 200 competing special interests on every candidate and official. They make it so you don’t need to listen to all the self-serving nonsense of campaigns anymore.

You can get just the facts on Vote Smart's web site (votesmart.org) or even call them on their toll-free Voter’s Research Hotline (1-888-VOTE-SMART) and one of their researchers will look up anything you need to know.
