The late Beverly McLean was an enthusiastic collector and a moving force in the local arts scene and “A Collector’s Collection” will be on display at the Cooperative Gallery 213 from April 5 through the 28th.  McLean founded the International Mini Print Exhibition in 1984 and several of these mini prints as well as other artwork from her collection will be available for sale during the month. According to her daughter Helen McLean, “Bev’s collection is exquisite and extensive and we are looking to find good homes for the pieces on display.” There will be a reception open to the public on Thursday, April 5th from 6-8 pm as well as during First Friday at the Cooperative Gallery 213 State Binghamton NY.

Bev McLean directed the Studio School and Art Gallery (SSAG) from 1987 to 2008, which was a focal point for visual arts. She assumed directorship of  the 1st MINI PRINT International Exhibition in 1987 which challenged artists all over the world to produce a 4”X4” print. The print format brought affordable art to the public. The Mini Print Exhibition was transferred to the Ink Shop in 2011 and the 20th show will occur in November. McLean was also curator for the City Hall Gallery, the Arena Art Show, Art in the Park, and individual shows including preserving Genevieve Karr Hamlin’s work. Her mini-prints were part of the “Prints and Prints” show at the Cooperative Gallery in 2013.

Also on display during April is “Sunday Paintings” by Bill Pesce, the newest member of the gallery and founder of the former Windsor Whip Works.

The Cooperative Gallery, a popular stop on the First Friday Art Walk, located at Artists Row --State of the Art, at 213 State Street in Binghamton, is open on First Friday 3- 9 pm and regularly Fridays from 3-6 and Saturdays from 12- 4 pm and by appointment.  A free weekly e-newsletter is available by signing up at  www.cooperativegallery.com or on Facebook  at Cooperative Gallery 213.
