Carousel Horse Community Painting Day

BINGHAMTON, NY. — Broome County Arts Council is proud to share news about the ongoing Carousel Horse Project, a unique community collaboration breathing new life into four retired carousel horses once destined for the landfill. Through the creativity of local artists, these vintage pieces are being restored and reimagined into vibrant works of art. The lead artists will be painting their horses on Thursday, July 17 at Mirabito Stadium with assistance from community members and local students. The completed horses will be installed at Mirabito Stadium and unveiled to the public at a later date during a special grand reveal event.

The four lead artists selected to design and paint the horses are: AmarA, Jesse Ryan, Emily Hare, and Ann Pellegrino. They were selected from many excellent applicants who responded to an open call for art back in the spring. Funded by the Binghamton Arts & Athletic Community Fund and supported by partners including the Broome County Arts Council, Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Binghamton High School, and the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce, this project blends art, history, and hands-on learning to celebrate our region’s creative spirit and cultural heritage.
