Creativity Workshop with Williams and Kendrot

Betsy Jo Williams and Susan Kendrot will present a hands on workshop on creativity. A live boxing demonstration will kickoff the evening to set the mood for experiencing Kendrot’s paintings. Her show titled “Brutal Dance: Boxing Series” speaks to the violence in mankind. “Humankind through the ages has been drawn to violence, brutality and dominance. As much as we would like to deny this, we participate in, are entertained by, put uniforms on, make games for,and glorify these traits. Boxing is but one example and it has been an ongoing theme in my work.”

Williams will invite participants to experiment with the materials she used in her show “Idea, Sticks and Clay”. Her show was inspired by “a twig I found. Attached was a cocoon, an egg sack for what insect, I do not know. My imagination was stimulated. My instincts and intuition said “do it” even though I didn’t know why. Then I learned that more than 40% of insect species in the world are declining and a third are endangered. My show is about metamorphoses, connections and the environment.”
