Truth Pharm Event Photography on Display at the Bundy Museum for First Friday
(Binghamton, NY) Truth Pharm is pleased to partner with the Bundy Museum and local photographer Arra Norton, to feature true black and white film photography from the 2019 Trail of Truth for International Overdose Awareness Day.
Arra’s photography will be a featured exhibit for the months of February and March. An opening reception will take place during February’s First Friday Art Walk: February 7th, 2020 from 6:00-9:00pm at Binghamton Photo, 32 Cedar St, which is a part of the Bundy Campus.
Truth Pharm hosts the annual Trail of Truth to honor those lost to substance use related causes in the Southern Tier. The march and performance art piece is held each year in late August, includes family members who have lost a loved one, and incorporates a memorial cemetery, activities, overdose reversal training, speakers and performances.
Arra was drawn to the 2019 event. In a statement, she says: “The raw emotion of the (Trail of Truth) event was both heartbreaking and inspiring as so many people gathered to remember those they’d lost and to advocate for changes to help others in the future.” Arra states that she is drawn to street photography, often attending rallies and local events. She enjoys capturing the emotion of people as they fight for their causes and documenting the movements that are happening in our area. Photography gives her a way to share her own voice in important matters.
Truth Pharm’s mission is to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with substance use disorders and to advocate for policy change to improve treatment options, and the organization is proud to establish this partnership to spread its message of awareness and stigma reduction. “Sharing Arra’s beautiful work with the community is just one more way to educate people on the realities of addiction and the loss it can bring, and to honor those who have lost their loved ones. Admission to the Bundy is always free.
