Windsor’s First Knight

Windsor Partnership’s seventh annual First Knight event will be taking place within the Village of Windsor on December 31st 6:00 pm to Midnight! Attendance at this event is free of charge thanks to our many sponsors: Williams Energy, Visions Federal Credit Union and Windsor Lions to name a few.

Food and beverages are available throughout the event for a donation or nominal fee. Parking will be at Windsor High School and three heated shuttle buses will be making a loop around the village every 10 – 15 minutes thanks to the sponsorship of Leonard Bus Sales.

This year we will offer some of the favorites such as Animal Adventure, Will the Juggler, Robert Rogers Marionettes, Jeremy the Illusionist, Bingo, Trivia, Face Painting, Caricatures for a nominal fee of $5.00 and crafts including Spectacle and Hat decorating. We are also pleased to add an exciting new event. Come to the Windsor Bible Baptist Church between 8 and 11 pm for a visit to Kopernik’s Portable Planetarium with shows every half hour (limited to 25 persons per show, first come, first served). This and many of our other programs are sponsored by Bluestone Wind Farm. Calling all kids to the carnival located at Our Lady of Lourdes Church from 7:30 – 11:00. Join an indoor snowball fight while you are there. Coughlin and Gerhart has graciously sponsored our history programs at the Town Hall starting at 7:30 with George Cummings newest presentation followed by Eileen Ruggieri’s History in a Trunk.

We are looking for volunteers to man the larger than life puppets for our parade and we welcome any community groups that would like to march or enter a float into the parade. Wear a holiday themed costume or come as you are. Let’s make this year’s parade one to remember! To participate, please be at the Windsor Town Hall parking lot at 6:45 pm for the line up. We’re hoping the Grinch will have had a good Christmas and will be joining us, too.

Volunteers ages 13 to adult are needed to work at the carnival, help with crafts, tour with the heated shuttle buses or welcoming attendees at the Welcome Center in the Community House. To volunteer or for more information, call Elaine at 607-655-3399.

Join us at 10 pm at the Community House for delicious First Knight cake and beverages while you relax to the music of the local band, Habit Formin’. Make a s’more or two and enjoy fellowship at Windsor’s own Times Square at Ron Rambo’s bonfire. Top the night off with noisemakers and the televised ball drop at the Community Center thanks to the Adams Cable sponsorship. Thanks to High Bridge Wind Farm for sponsoring the Countdown to midnight. Stay for the swearing in of several town officials right after midnight.
