from 7 to 9.
We will supply the food and you bring your sign making supplies and slogans!

Folks, we have a hard year ahead of us to continue to fight the Trump agenda and all that entails and to work EVEN harder here at home to get progressive candidates elected to fairly represent ALL of us. We Need Your Help!!
We can ONLY do this if we work together to build an army of motivated individuals who want to achieve our goals. To keep that motivation going we also need to spend time getting to know one another, to share some time talking and laughing and holding one another up!

January Monthly "Inspirational" Meeting

This is it folks! A year when we can REALLY make a change if we give it OUR ALL! So please This is a very important 1st 2018 meeting. We will be reorganizing Indivisible Binghamton and looking to make changes and plans for what will be a BIG year for us!
We have one chance to defeat Claudia Tenney and get elected a congressional representative who will have the backs of the residents of District 22, BUT…. we NEED YOU!
We can't do this without ALL of our current members, and any new members we can add this year, stepping up to the plate to help us make this a reality!
We are in the fight of our lives. fighting for democracy and the future of this country. So PLEASE, take an hour or two from your busy lives to MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!

Community Health Care Town Hall

Having a town hall meeting (with or without Congresswoman Claudia Tenney who has delayed meeting with constituents) for the community to discuss the AHCA passed by the House of Representatives. The date is Saturday 5/13, 2- 4 pm American Legion Post 80 76 Main St. Binghamton. Guest speaker Joshua Riley, former legal counsel to Sen Al Franken and a former intern for Maurice Hinchey. For more information, call  343-4351.

Tenney stated she was “Trump before there was a Trump”, but many of her early lawn signs were Trump for Governor signs, recycled for her use, proving she’s been in his pocket for longer than she cares to admit.

NYS has a law in committee that would require all elected officials’ NYS tax returns be made public, including Trump’s. At least 2 members of Indivisible Binghamton contacted Akshar, who is on the committee, to allow the law leave committee and let the entire NYS Senate vote on the law.

Akshar is not inclined to allow that, as he feels it is “state government overreach”. The common name of this law is The Trump Act. If you feel that this is a good bill, which would include releasing Akshar’s taxes, contact his office. Tax Day Rally

About 200 people attended the Tax Day Rally. It was one of hundreds across the country and in Washington DC, protesting the Republican/Trump plans for a budget and tax policy. Protesters also demanded that President Trump reveal his taxes, especially because of his foreign investments and entanglements. Citizen Action schedule of events in next story below. Indivisible Binghamton

The second meeting of Binghamton's Indivisible chapter drew 60-70 people. One of 7000 chapters of Indivisible, founded by former Congressional staffers who have charted a political change strategy, the group focuses on opposing the Trump agenda and retrogressive policies at the national, state and local levels. In Binghamton Tim Mollen moderates the group with many others who take on various responsibilities and organizing tasks such website and social media development, in person meetings, phone calling legislators, writing letters, editorials, etc., and generally holding elected officials accountable. The group is paying particular attention to REp. Claudia Tenney who supports most of the Trump agenda. The group has agitated for a town hall meeting without results so far.

Indivisible Binghamton is organized online with a closed Facebook group; interested people may apply for inclusion and get on the mailing list. They take as their blueprint the Indivisble Guide, accessible here.  The founders of the movement took as their inspiration the success of the Tea Party in winning elections and opposing Obama's agenda. The strategies are the same; the policies and vision of America are completely different. It is a grassroots movement targeting elected representatives with contacts and creating a public presence. The movement is credited with rallying support for immigrants and against the travel ban, and most recently the vote on the Affordable Care repeal, which divided Republicans.

Indivisible Binghamton meets monthly and is promoting a TAX Day rally April 15th at the Broome Co Courthouse.
