Topographies: Changing Conceptions of the American Landscape

The Binghamton University Art Museum is sponsoring an exhibit titled Topographies: Changing Conceptions of the American Landscape October 8- December 11, 2021, with an opening reception Oct 8th 5-7 pm.  Other special events include A Confluence Convening Sat Oct. 30th 1-4 pm at the Downtown Center. As the Chenango empties into the Susquehanna, their confluence has been an important meeting place of peoples and cultures. In conjunction with Topographies, the Museum will host a half-day convening that addresses this setting’s history, its present and its potential futures from the perspectives of Indigenous and African-American histories, archeology, and organizations working in the contemporary moment. Beginning at the University Downtown Center at 1:00 pm on October 30th, the event will also include the opportunity to see Topographies at the Binghamton University Art Museum.
